Horizontal Stripes! Gasp! I know it's a cardinal "rule" for the husky set to not wear horizontal stripes, but as many of you know, I don't think we're too keen on rules around here. I found this top in the clearance section of Old Navy the other day and was thrilled. I admired it when it was full price, but figured I'd go back after the holidays when I had have a gift card and things would be half price. Sure enough, there it was. It was a size smaller than what I usually wear, but it fit and I'm super happy about it. In fact, I've already worn it twice since I got it 6 days ago. I even went online and bought it in another color and I can't wait for to arrive in the post any day now.
OOTD Details:
Bat Wing Top: Old Navy
Under Shirt: Old Navy
Denim Mini: Old Navy
Leggings: Old Navy
Shoes: Patagonia
Wow, I didn't realize my entire outfit was bought at Old Navy. Looks like I went a bit crazy. The top and leggings are new, but the skirt I've had since college. I also realized this is one of the very few outfits that I didn't where a cardigan, so I guess that's something. I do love this top a lot and highly recommend it. So, if you happen to find one at your local Old Navy or can snag one online, get it, because it's fantastic!
Oh, and Penny wanted to be in a photo so here's a little treat!

Something Different: A Recipe
Hello Folks! I thought I do something a bit different from my usual posts today. Since I've been on my migraine medication (that I posted about a while back) it's caused my eating habits to change quite a bit. The biggest change is that I no longer crave/want carbohydrate type foods, which has been really strange. I still eat the occasional sandwich here and there but when it comes to pasta, potatoes, and most breads, I'm just not interested. This has kind of left me at a loss of what to eat and caused me to get bored with a lot of foods, until I started stuffing vegetables, now I'm happy. One of my favorite foods is stuffed zucchini, which I thought I'd share.
The version I made is with turkey, but could easily be made vegetarian if you substituted the turkey for TVP.
Alright, here we go...
You will need.
Step 1:
Thoroughly wash and scrub your zucchini. Then cut it in half and scoop out the middle creating little zucchini boats.
Step 2:
Once you have all of the guts scooped out, put them in a baking dish of your choice and place them in the refrigerator while you complete the next step. At this point I like to put a few little sprinkles of shredded cheese in the bottom of the little boats to draw up a bit of moisture.
Step 3:
In a skillet begin to cook your turkey/beef/tvp (whatever you've chosen to fill your zucchini with). If you've elected to use meat, make sure you cook it thoroughly and to the correct temperature for your chosen product. I elected to use turkey. While the filling is cooking this is a good time to dice your red onion and chop your tomato.
Step 4:
Pre-Heat oven to 400°F
Once your filler is finished cooking combine all of the ingredients into a pot with the filler. At this point you can season the filler, onions, and tomatoes with chili powder, and cracked black pepper. This is also where I added my jalapenos. I prefer them out of jar simply so I can pour the jalapeno juice into the mixture for the extra spice! I also end up using about half the jar of jalapenos, but that's just me, you can use however much you'd like.
Step 5:
Pull your zucchini boats out of the refrigerator and begin to fill each boat with your filler, (make sure that they are closely placed side by side so when you begin to fill the boats with your mixture they catch all of the excess bits). Once you have filled each zucchini boat with your desired amount, top with shredded cheese and pop in the oven for 20min at 400°F.
Step 6:
Eat and Enjoy!

Chubby Little Girls
I found this vintage school photo of a chubby little girl from 1948. As soon as I saw her I just fell in love and knew I had to take her home. It always makes me so sad to find old family photos in antique shops and when I connect with a person in the photo I feel that it's my duty to provide them with a new home. Is that weird?
