Wallpaper Print

Summer camp has come to an end, which means I can actually get back to dressing like myself again during the week. The end of camp is always bittersweet, as the kids are great and the people I work with are wonderful. The one good thing about camp being over, is that my 2 month, 7 day a week work schedule is officially over. For the next 3 weeks, until I start teaching after school art, I get to enjoy what summer has to offer, with swimming, exploring small towns, antique shopping, and general relaxing. Today, after waking up late I'll be spending my day relaxing at the pool. I can't wait!

Yesterday, was my last day of work for the next few days and since I was at the museum, I got to wear one of my recent purchases from Asos. I mentioned a while back that I took full advantage of their sale and this was one of the pieces I picked up.

OOTD Details:

Dress: Asos
Cardigan: Old Navy (10 years ago)
Belt: Asos

I have to say this dress was a bit of an impulse buy when I saw it drop down to $17. I liked the print, but I've never really been too keen on pastels and pinks. I have, however, been wanting to get out of my comfort zone with color and felt this dress was the perfect price and print for experimentation. I like the dress and love the pleating. I do, however, wish that the pleating was a bit lower down as it hits at a very strange place above my hips and with the added fabric from the pockets, there is an extra bulkiness around the hips that I'm not overly keen on. As y'all know, I adore an exaggerated feminine shape, but this dress misses the mark because of how the pockets and pleats lay against my body. The print is lovely and the colors are very bold, which I've been noticing a lot from Asos recently. I do wish this dress would have come in more than one color option as I think it would have been beautiful in jewel tones as well. Overall, I'm pleased with it and I'm glad that I've been branching out with color.

I, too, haven't recently picked up some pastels for my closet. It feels strange to have never owned them before now!
That dress is super cute, but I understand your problem with the pleating in the wrong place. Ugh, that kind of thing drives me nuts. Anyway you can work your reconstructive magic and fix it? It's a shame it's gotta fit weird. :/
